Before You Commit
What evidence supports your confidence in execution?
Introducing Execution Reliability
Before approving a major transformation, acquisition or capital investment, the strategy is challenged, the numbers tested, the technology reviewed and the risks mapped.
But one assumption often receives far less scrutiny: whether the execution system can execute the commitment under current and changing conditions.
Before You Commit introduces Execution Reliability — an emerging, forward-looking decision discipline that assesses the evidence supporting an execution system’s ability to execute a consequential commitment under current and changing conditions.

Why Execution Reliability?
Having the right strategy, people, resources and plan matters. But execution depends on the system connecting them: the people, teams, partners, decision-making and prioritisation processes, incentives, information and resources that must work together to turn a commitment into results. Depending on the initiative, that system may extend beyond a single organisation.
The challenge is not to predict every disruption. It is to examine whether there is evidence that the system can learn, reprioritise, coordinate and adapt as reality changes.
Execution Reliability does not attempt to remove uncertainty or guarantee success. It makes the evidence, assumptions and uncertainties surrounding execution more explicit and open to challenge before the commitment is made and as execution progresses.
“Before you commit, ask not only whether the strategy makes sense, but also what evidence supports your confidence that it can actually be executed.”
